The Real Deal

I've decided to skip my usual plan of waiting until everything is perfect to dramatically announce my news. I'm convinced that those of us who wait until everything is "perfect" are missing a boat somewhere- most likely the sanity boat. A lot has been going on with me. I haven't shared any of it on here because, well I guess I see my blog more as a website for Barely Measured, than a personal blog. While I've shared trips, recipes, moves and family events- it's always been censored in a way. Like any good business woman I tried to avoid over-sharing, rants about politics or other taboo topics, but I think it's stifled me in writing posts.

SO, let me get to the point. Let me fill you in on what's been going on (in no particular order):

I have accepted a new job. I will no longer be an upholsterer during the hours of 9-5 (8-6). Yep. Still adjusting to this. I loved my job and wasn't looking for a new one but a former supervisor moved to the area and asked me to consider coming to join the Ursinus College staff. I start on Monday as a graphic designer and marketer. I'm thrilled but also still getting used to the fact that I will be back in an office. Crazy.

We bought a car. Yikes. When the saleswoman asked if I was excited I told her I felt like throwing up. Haha, it was so stressful but I'm glad to have a reliable car to commute to work. FYI- if you're looking ask if they have any new loaner or demo cars. We got a very gently used (6k miles) 2012. You get the low new car interest rate and a slightly lower used car price :)

I (FINALLY) got an iPhone!! Yay! I think it will make blogging much easier and more fun!

I want to be a mom, like now. Unfortunately with the new job this will have to wait awhile but I'm excited nonetheless. Believe me, no one could be more shocked than me, it seriously just hit me all-of-a-sudden. I'm not talking your average bout of baby fever either.

So why all the (over?) sharing now? I'm retiring Barely Measured, so to speak. I've been working on a new project, a new handbag and accessory company that is a little higher end- both in look and craftsmanship. It's still in the early planning and prototyping period but I'm excited. I will still be accepting wedding orders for custom clutches through Barely Measured but that's it. I want to focus on my new job and my new line. (Major sigh of relief) I guess I was worried I would be failing in some way to do this but even as I type I realize it's the right thing to do. I'm sad to say goodbye but I'm ready to step up my game a little. Thank you to everyone for your support through these 5 years and I can't wait to share my new project with you when it's ready!

So hopefully, you've read this VERY long post and will check in on me here, once in awhile where I will share what's going on in my life, new job and new business venture. Hopefully, you like me for who I am.... un-censored rants and all <3
