Custom Baby Dresses- The Next Big Thing?

Hardly. I am however, very excited to share pics of the christening gown I made for my goddaughter and niece, Leighton Annabelle. This dress took a million hours to make and required a hefty amount of hand stitching but it was totally worth it to see her in it! I will also say that little Leighton cracked up {for the FIRST time people} as her mama was putting it on her- I think she liked the satin!

I used duchess satin for the exterior and the lining. The cap sleeves were part of a wrap Ashley wore at her wedding. The beading and applique at the bottom was also from the wrap and matched her wedding gown. I was very nervous to cut the wrap so I made two prototypes of the dress to make sure everything was perfect.

Definitely the most challenging thing I've done to date.

Vintage rhinestone detail at back closure.
{Even though her little sweater covered it, I couldn't resist adding a little bling.}

I did not make these but they were really freaking adorable.

Leighton's original christening was postponed by two weeks due to snow... apparently babies can't fast for two weeks so, sadly I had to make a small cut on the back at the base of the bodice and hand stitch in a few extra snaps so it would fit. You could hardly tell though :)

Check out that sweet little fascinator Ash made for her!

I was really glad he didn't drop her. At one point he rested the bible on her head while he read....
